Geranium Cake Stand With Rabbit White

This large cake stand, in white, features a rabbit sitting on top of geranium leaves. The Geranium is often considered the national flower of Portugal, as it is the most typical among the Portuguese flowers embellishing gardens and balconies all across the country. It was represented by Bordallo Pinheiro for its unmistakable foliage.

The Portuguese ceramics studio, Bordallo Pinheiro, was set up in 1884. Brothers Raphael and Feliciano Bordallo Pinheiro started the venture, and many of the pieces today are still made to Raphael’s designs.
